Emirates ID Replacement in Dubai
Lost, stolen or damaged. Around AED 300 plus fees, a police report where it was lost — and a replacement card keeps the original expiry date.

Losing an Emirates ID feels worse than it is, provided you act in the right order. The mistake people make is waiting a few days to see if it turns up, then discovering they cannot complete a transaction that needed the physical card.

A replacement card carries the same expiry date as the one you lost. If your card had three months left, the replacement has three months left. If you are close to expiry anyway, a renewal may be the better transaction — ask us before paying for a replacement you will replace again in weeks.

Report the loss
Obtain a police report where the card was lost or stolen. This is the step people skip, and the application will not proceed without it.
Apply for replacement
Through ICP, the app, or an authorised typing centre with your passport and visa details.
Biometrics, if required
Often reused from your existing record, so frequently not needed.
Verify the delivery address
Check what ICP holds for you. An out-of-date address is the most common reason a replacement card does not arrive.
Your Emirates ID number is unchanged and remains active. Most banking, telecom and government transactions can proceed on the number alone — so do not postpone something important on the assumption you need the plastic in hand.

If your card was stolen
Treat it as an identity matter, not just an administrative one. Report it promptly, and if you have reason to think it is being misused, say so in the report. An Emirates ID is used to verify identity across banking, telecom and government services, which is exactly why the police report step exists.

How much does it cost to replace a lost Emirates ID?
Around AED 300 for the replacement fee, plus AED 100 for the smart application and AED 30–70 in typing charges. A police report is generally required for lost or stolen cards and is usually issued without charge.
Do I need a police report to replace my Emirates ID?
Generally yes if the card was lost or stolen. A damaged card that you still hold does not usually require one — you surrender the damaged card instead.
Does my Emirates ID number change on replacement?
No. The number stays the same and remains active, so most banking, telecom and government transactions can continue while the physical card is reissued.
Does a replacement card have a new expiry date?
No. It carries the same expiry as the card it replaces. If you are close to expiry already, a renewal may be the better transaction than a replacement.
How long does a replacement take?
Typically one to three weeks end to end, covering the police report, application, card production and delivery. Biometrics are often reused from your existing record.
What if my replacement card never arrives?
Almost always an out-of-date delivery address on the ICP record. Check and correct it while the application is still active rather than after it closes.
