Overview
In short: Emirates ID typing means preparing your Emirates ID application (new card, renewal or replacement) in ICP’s format and submitting it, either through an ICP-approved typing centre or yourself on the ICP website or app with UAE Pass. ICP charges residents AED 100 for each year of validity plus a AED 100 smart service fee, so a two-year card costs AED 300 in government fees; a lost or damaged card is AED 300 plus the same AED 100 fee. Typing centres add their own charge, commonly about AED 30 to 70, which ICP does not set. ICP’s service time is 5 days, and a late fee of AED 20 a day, capped at AED 1,000, starts 30 days after expiry.
The Emirates ID is the identity document every other government service in the UAE reads from. Bank accounts, tenancy registration, medical files, school enrolment, telecoms and your residence file all reference it. When the data on the card is wrong, the error propagates quietly into all of them and surfaces later at the worst moment.
Typing is the step where your application is entered into ICP’s system, and it is where most of those errors originate. A name transliterated differently from the passport, a date entered in the wrong format, a nationality field that does not match the travel document: these are trivial to prevent at the point of submission and genuinely difficult to unwind afterwards.
MIRDXB PRO is not a typing centre. We are a private PRO and visa services company in Al Barsha 1, Dubai: we prepare applications in the format ICP expects, check them against the source documents rather than against what you tell us, and submit them through the ICP smart services platform or an ICP-approved typing centre, properly the first time.
Scope of work
First-time Emirates ID applications tied to a residence file, including biometric appointment booking at the right centre.
Renewal ahead of expiry so the card does not lapse alongside your residence visa and disrupt banking or tenancy.
Lost, stolen or damaged card replacement, including the reporting step that has to happen before a replacement can be issued.
Correcting name spelling, date of birth, nationality or profession where the card does not match the passport or residence file.
Applications, undertakings and forms typed for submission to Dubai government entities in the format each one requires.
Coordinated Emirates ID processing for multiple employees, with a single tracking point rather than scattered individual appointments.
What to prepare
ICP asks every applicant for a passport, a personal photo that meets ICAO standards and proof of residence. The rest differs between a new application, a renewal and a replacement, so we confirm the exact set for your case first.
How it works
We work from your passport and residence file rather than from a form you have filled in, because that is where transliteration errors get introduced.
The application is prepared in the correct format for ICP and submitted through the ICP smart services platform or an ICP-approved typing centre. ICP’s fees are paid at cost.
Where fingerprints and photograph are required, we book the appointment at an appropriate centre and confirm the slot with you.
We monitor issuance, follow up on delays, and confirm the card details are correct against your passport before you accept it.
From our case desk
Every one of these is preventable at the typing stage and painful afterwards.
Arabic transliteration of a Latin-script name can be rendered several ways. Once it differs from your visa or bank records, reconciling them becomes a separate job.
An expired Emirates ID can interrupt banking, tenancy registration and other services that verify against it, well before anyone chases you about the card itself.
A date of birth or nationality that differs from the travel document will surface at renewal, at visa stamping, or when a bank re-verifies you.
A lost or stolen card generally requires the loss to be reported before a replacement can be processed. Skipping that step stalls the application.
A missed appointment does not simply reschedule itself. The application sits incomplete until new biometrics are captured.
Bulk employee processing handled ad hoc leaves nobody able to say which cards are issued, which are pending and which failed.
Why MIRDXB PRO
ILOE, WPS, company category, card validity, overstay and attestation, all checked on day one.
Published fees passed through unchanged. Our fee is separate, fixed and in writing before you commit.
Amer, Tasheel, MOHRE, ICP or the owning authority, in the order the authorities need it.
We would rather lose the work than lodge something that fails.
The complete guide

There are two separate charges. ICP, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, sets the government fee: for residents, AED 100 for each year of card validity plus a AED 100 smart service fee. A typing centre then adds its own service charge, which ICP does not set. A standard two-year card therefore costs AED 300 in government fees, or roughly AED 330 to 370 once a typing charge is added.
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ICP card fee (residents) | AED 100 per year of validity | Matches your residence visa term |
| ICP smart service fee | AED 100 | Charged on each application, online or through a typing centre |
| Typing centre charge | About AED 30 to 70 | Set by each centre, not by ICP; the range commonly quoted in Dubai |
| Replacement (lost or damaged) | AED 300 + AED 100 smart fee | Report a lost card to ICP within 7 days |
| Urgent service | AED 150 extra | At ICP centres only; for residents, offered on lost or damaged replacements |
| 10-year card (Golden Visa) | AED 1,100 | 10 x AED 100 plus the AED 100 smart fee |
| Late renewal fine | AED 20/day, capped AED 1,000 | Starts 30 days after expiry |
Government fees at cost, plus a fixed service fee agreed before we start. MIRDXB PRO is not a typing centre. We prepare and check the application ourselves, submit it through the ICP smart services platform or an ICP-approved typing centre, and track it until the card is issued.
ICP accepts Emirates ID applications through three official routes. All of them charge the same ICP fees; only the typing charge differs.
In Dubai the Emirates ID is still a separate application from the GDRFA residence visa. ICP merges the two into one form in the other emirates, but not in Dubai, so renewing your visa here does not renew your card.
ICP's published service time is 5 days once a complete application is submitted. Fingerprints and courier delivery sit either side of that. Our guide on how long an Emirates ID takes covers each stage in detail.
| Stage | Typical duration | Variable |
|---|---|---|
| Application typing and submission | Same day | Document readiness |
| Biometrics appointment | 1 to 5 days | Often reused on renewal |
| Card production | 5 days | ICP service time; longer if ICP asks for changes |
| Delivery | 2 to 7 days | Address accuracy |
| End to end | 1 to 3 weeks | Your ID number is usable before the card arrives |
Once the Emirates ID number is issued, most banking, telecom and government transactions can proceed on the number alone. People routinely lose two weeks waiting for plastic they did not need.
The fine is capped at AED 1,000 (our guide to the Emirates ID late renewal fine explains how it is counted). The disruption is not capped at all.
The Ejari link is the expensive one. An expired card blocks Ejari, a missing Ejari blocks a family visa renewal, and dependants then begin accruing their own overstay exposure at AED 50 per day each.
We prepare these files and submit them through the relevant authority's own channel or an approved Amer, Tasheel or typing centre. Government fees are paid at cost.
| Service | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Emirates ID application, renewal, replacement | New residents, renewals, lost cards |
| Personal detail corrections | Name spelling, date of birth, profession |
| Residence visa applications and renewals | Employment and family files |
| Entry permits and status change | Avoiding an exit and re-entry |
| Visa cancellation | End of employment, relocation |
| Labour contract typing | MOHRE offer letters and contracts |
| Sponsorship transfer | Changing sponsor or employer |
| Fine checks and settlement | ICP, ILOE and immigration liabilities |
A surprising share of the work we do is correcting details that were typed wrong years ago and have propagated everywhere since.
The usual trigger is transliteration. A passport renewed at a different consulate renders a name slightly differently, and the mismatch surfaces later at the worst moment: during a family visa application, a property transaction or a Golden Visa file. ICP also expects holders to report a change to their personal details within 30 days; a late report can cost AED 20 a day, up to AED 1,000.
Check these match exactly, across every document
Correcting one document is straightforward. Correcting five, after they have been used to build a family visa file, is not.
The fine has started at AED 20 per day. It caps at AED 1,000 after 50 chargeable days, so there is a point beyond which further delay costs nothing more financially, but the transactional blocking continues regardless.
In Dubai they are separate applications. A renewed residence visa does not produce a renewed card, and this is the single most common reason cards lapse. Our Emirates ID renewal service handles the card on its own.
Usually the payment posted against a previous Emirates ID number after a renewal. The original receipt or policy certificate is what gets it reconciled, which is why we tell everyone to keep them.
Almost always an outdated delivery address on the ICP record. Resolve it while the application is still active rather than after it closes.
ICP charges residents AED 100 for each year of validity plus a AED 100 smart service fee, so a two-year card is AED 300 in government fees. A typing centre then adds its own charge, which ICP does not set; about AED 30 to 70 is the range commonly quoted in Dubai. Applying yourself on the ICP app or website avoids the typing charge but not the smart service fee.
Yes. Sign in to the ICP smart services website or the UAE ICP app with UAE Pass, complete the form, upload your photo and passport, and pay the ICP fees. If you are 15 or over and ICP needs your fingerprints, you will still visit an ICP centre for them.
Yes, for most banking, telecom and government transactions. Waiting for the physical card is usually unnecessary and costs people time they did not need to lose.
ICP charges AED 300 for a lost or damaged card plus the AED 100 smart service fee, with a typing charge on top if a typing centre submits it. ICP asks holders to report a lost card within 7 days, and urgent replacement costs AED 150 more at an ICP centre. See our Emirates ID replacement service for the steps.
Yes. We prepare the correction with the supporting passport evidence and submit it through ICP. Correct it as soon as you notice, because a mismatch that has already propagated into a visa or property file is considerably harder to unwind.
ICP card fees, the smart service fee, replacement and urgent fees, the 5-day service time, application channels and the late renewal fine re-checked against ICP and u.ae on 10 October 2026. Typing centre charges are set by each centre and are not an ICP figure. Government fees can change; the ICP payment screen is final.

Questions
Short answers to what clients ask first. Anything else, ask us directly.
Ask on WhatsAppICP’s published service time is 5 days once a complete application is submitted. Add time for fingerprints, if ICP asks for them, and for courier delivery; corrections take longer because the evidence has to be assessed. Our guide on how long an Emirates ID takes covers each stage.
From 30 days after expiry, ICP charges a late fee of AED 20 a day, capped at AED 1,000, and services that verify your identity against the card may refuse to proceed. You can renew up to six months before the expiry date; our Emirates ID renewal service handles it.
No. MIRDXB PRO is a private PRO and visa services company in Al Barsha 1, Dubai. It is not an ICP-approved typing centre and not an authorised Amer or Tasheel partner. We prepare and check your application, then submit it through the ICP smart services platform or an ICP-approved typing centre, with government fees paid at cost.
ICP asks applicants aged 15 and over to give fingerprints and a signature at an ICP service centre when these have not been recorded before or need refreshing. The typing and submission itself does not require your attendance.
Report the loss first: ICP asks holders to report a lost card within 7 days. A replacement then costs AED 300 plus the AED 100 smart service fee, and starting with the replacement application before the loss is recorded wastes time.
Yes. Company submissions run under a signed authorisation with a single point of contact, so you get one status list rather than chasing individual employees.
A typing centre is an ICP-accredited office that types and submits government applications in the prescribed format for a service charge. You can use one, apply yourself on the ICP app or website with UAE Pass, or have a PRO company prepare and check the file first. A form typed with the wrong name spelling or date is the most common reason simple applications are returned.
