Golden Visa for Nurses, Doctors and Teachers 2026: Every UAE Route, Who Nominates and How to Apply

In short: Nurses, doctors and teachers can hold the UAE’s 10-year Golden visa, usually through a nomination, not an application. ICP’s healthcare and education specialist categories need a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Education or a local authority: the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, KHDA for Dubai private educators (window mid-October to mid-December) or Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Knowledge. Dubai Health nurses with over 15 years’ service were granted it in May 2025. Without a nomination, the salary route needs AED 30,000 a month, a bachelor’s degree and MOHRE skill level 1 or 2. In Dubai the residence, Emirates ID and medical lines total AED 3,770 inside the country, before insurance.

The golden visa for nurses, doctors and teachers is the UAE’s 10-year Golden residence granted to healthcare and education professionals, usually after a nomination or endorsement from the authority that licenses them and an approval from ICP. For nurses it currently means Dubai Health’s scheme for staff with more than 15 years’ service, the Department of Health endorsement in Abu Dhabi, or a Ministry of Health and Prevention nomination elsewhere. Doctors use the same health specialist route or the AED 30,000 salary route. Teachers are nominated by their school or university through KHDA in Dubai, ADEK or the Ministry of Education in Abu Dhabi, or Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Knowledge.

It covers each route by profession and emirate, who nominates, how to apply, documents, fees, published times, and what to do if no nomination fits.

What changed: from the 2021 waves to the routes of 2026

Much of what circulates online about the golden visa for healthcare professionals and teachers describes schemes that have since closed or changed shape.

2021 to 2022: the doctors’ window and the frontline heroes wave

In July 2021 the UAE opened the golden visa for doctors licensed by the country’s health regulators, with an application period running to September 2022, according to Al Arabiya. That was a time-limited programme.

In the same period the Frontline Heroes Office, set up by Federal Decree No. 95 of 2020 according to the u.ae portal, worked with ICP on Golden visas for COVID-19 frontline staff. Khaleej Times reported in November 2022 that more than 30,000, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and anaesthesia technicians, had received them, and that “the recipients were nominated for the 10-year residency visa by their respective health authorities”. Individuals did not apply on a form.

2024 to 2026: profession-specific nomination schemes

The more recent change is that individual authorities now run their own nomination schemes:

• October 2024: KHDA’s Golden visa for outstanding educators in Dubai’s private education sector, announced on World Teachers’ Day.
• November 2024: Ras Al Khaimah’s Golden visa programme for private school educators, run by the RAK Department of Knowledge.
• May 2025: Golden visas for Dubai Health nursing staff with more than 15 years’ service, announced on International Nurses Day.
• Ongoing: Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health endorses licensed healthcare professionals for the Golden visa through the Abu Dhabi Residents Office, and ADEK or the Ministry of Education recommends educators.

Behind all of them sits ICP’s federal category for leading specialists in healthcare and in education; the local schemes are how those recommendations are given.

Golden visa for nurses and other professionals: how MIRDXB PRO helps

Is there a golden visa for nurses in the UAE? Every route in 2026

Nurses ask us about the golden visa for nurses more than any other healthcare group asks about its route, and they are the group most often given wrong information. Here is what the official pages actually support, route by route.

Golden visa for nurses, route 1: Dubai Health nurses with more than 15 years’ service

On 12 May 2025, International Nurses Day, the Dubai Media Office announced that Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, had directed Golden visas for “nursing staff employed with Dubai Health who have served for more than 15 years”. The statement framed it as recognition of their “invaluable contributions to the community and their crucial role in advancing the quality of healthcare services”.

Gulf News reported the next week that Dubai Health had confirmed eligibility: more than 1,400 nursing employees, with long-serving midwives included. Neither the Dubai Media Office nor Dubai Health published an application form, and the scheme was presented as a grant to existing staff rather than an open category.

If you are a Dubai Health nurse approaching the 15-year mark for this golden visa for nurses, ask your nursing directorate whether staff are still identified as they cross the threshold. We found no official statement either way.

Golden visa for nurses, route 2: nurses licensed by the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi publishes the clearest criteria of any emirate. The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO) list the “Golden Visa for Elite Specialists in Health Fields” with four conditions:

1. “Hold a valid practicing licence issued by The Abu Dhabi Department of Health”.
2. “Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent”.
3. “Endorsed by Abu Dhabi Department of Health”.
4. “Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the UAE”, which the pages say applies to “technicians & assistant roles only”.

The pages do not name professions, and they do not exclude nurses. On the published wording, a registered nurse with a DoH licence and a bachelor’s degree meets the documentary conditions, and the decision then rests on the Department of Health’s endorsement. The Department’s own Golden visa page says it provides a validation letter only, and that “the issuance of a Golden Visa is at the sole discretion of Abu Dhabi Residents Office”.

Two practical points follow for the golden visa for nurses in Abu Dhabi. A diploma-trained nurse without a bachelor’s degree or an accepted equivalent does not meet the second condition. And nursing assistants, healthcare assistants and technicians need five years’ UAE experience, which is where a lot of applications fall short on documents rather than service: experience letters must cover the full period.

Golden visa for nurses, route 3: a health specialist nomination elsewhere

For nurses in Dubai’s private sector and in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, the federal category is the one in ICP’s Golden guide: “leading specialists in healthcare, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the relevant local authorities”. GDRFA Dubai’s card lists the documents for its “Elite Health Fields” group as the passport copy, the Ministry of Health and Prevention nomination letter, and ICP’s approval.

The honest position is that this golden visa for nurses route exists but is not an open door. We found no public MOHAP or DHA service page for requesting a Golden nomination, and no published criteria for nurses outside Abu Dhabi. In practice, nominations on this route come through employers and health authorities, as they did in the frontline heroes wave. A nurse can also file ICP’s public “Nomination Request for Golden Residence” and select the health specialist category; ICP will then look for the recommendation. Golden visa for nurses, route 4: frontline heroes

ICP’s Golden guide still lists “professionals working on the front lines of defence” as a 10-year category, and the u.ae Golden visa page (updated 28 July 2026) lists “Humanitarian pioneers and Frontline Heroes”. The u.ae portal describes the Frontline Heroes Office, created by Federal Decree No. 95 of 2020, and says frontline heroes “include those working on the frontline in healthcare facilities, as well as in the prevention and protection”. Abu Dhabi’s ADDED page for front-line workers, checked on 10 October 2026, states how the route works: the Golden visa is “provided on a recommendation basis only by the ‘Fakhr Al Watan Office'”, the Arabic name of the Frontline Heroes Office, and nominations come exclusively from that office in collaboration with ICP.

None of these pages publishes an individual application. The 2021 to 2022 frontline Golden visas were nominated by health authorities, not applied for. So if you are a nurse who worked through the pandemic and did not receive one, there is no form to fill in today: the route exists only as a recommendation from the Fakhr Al Watan Office, and no official page invites individuals to request one.

Golden visa for nurses, route 5: the salary route, or a Green residence instead

If no golden visa for nurses nomination is available, look at the routes with published numbers:

• Golden salary route: a valid UAE work permit, a monthly salary of at least AED 30,000, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, an occupation at MOHRE skill level 1 or 2, six months of bank statements showing the salary, and a professional licence where the job requires one (ICP guide; GDRFA card). • Green residence for skilled employees: 5 years, self-sponsored, at a salary of at least AED 15,000 a month, MOHRE skill level 1 to 3 and a bachelor’s degree (ICP). What are the golden visa requirements for nurses in the UAE?

The requirements depend on the route. In Abu Dhabi, ADDED lists a valid Department of Health licence, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a DoH endorsement, plus five years’ UAE experience for technicians and assistant roles. The Dubai Health scheme needs more than 15 years’ service with Dubai Health. The salary route needs a UAE work permit, at least AED 30,000 a month, a bachelor’s degree, MOHRE skill level 1 or 2 and six months of bank statements (ICP; GDRFA).

Whichever golden visa for nurses route applies, the same documents come up again and again, and the same ones cause delays. Gather them early.

Degree attestation for the golden visa for nurses trained abroad

Most nurses in the UAE trained in India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya, Nigeria or the UK. Their degree certificates normally need attestation in the home country, by the UAE mission there, and by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This often takes longer than every other step combined. Many nurses already had their degree attested for their first DHA, DoH or MOHAP licence. Check whether you still hold the attested original. If you do, that step may already be done.

Name and profession mismatches

Two mismatches catch nurses often: a name that differs between passport, degree and licence, usually after marriage, and a MOHRE work permit occupation that does not match the category claimed. Fix both before filing. Our guide to UAE work permit types explains how occupations are recorded.

How do doctors get the UAE golden visa: nomination or salary?

The golden visa for doctors has two realistic routes in 2026, and for most consultants and specialists the choice between them is practical rather than legal. One depends on a health authority’s endorsement. The other depends on numbers you can prove yourself.

Golden visa for doctors, route A: the health specialist nomination

ICP’s Golden guide covers “leading specialists in healthcare, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the relevant local authorities”. GDRFA Dubai’s card, “Issuing Golden Residence Permit (Specialized Scientists)”, has an “Elite Health Fields” group with three documents: the passport copy, a nomination letter from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and “Approval issued by the Federal Identity Authority (UAEICP)”. The card says the permit is “valid for 10 years and can be extended if the same conditions are met”, and gives a service time of 48 hours.

How a golden visa for doctors nomination is obtained differs by emirate:

• Abu Dhabi: the Department of Health endorses. The criteria are published (valid DoH licence, bachelor’s degree or equivalent, DoH endorsement) and the endorsement is requested on TAMM. The Department of Health describes the steps: obtain its verification letter, then present it to ADRO with the other documents.
• Dubai: GDRFA’s card names MOHAP. DHA, which licenses Dubai’s doctors, does not publish a Golden nomination service or criteria that we could find. Doctors in DHA-licensed facilities are nominated through their employer and the health authorities when a scheme is open, or use Route B.
• Northern emirates: doctors licensed by MOHAP and working in federal hospitals run by Emirates Health Services, or in private facilities under MOHAP licensing, look to MOHAP for the recommendation, then ICP.

The nomination route to the golden visa for doctors is discretionary. The authority decides who counts as a “leading specialist”. Seniority, sub-specialty, academic appointments, publications, training roles and service in shortage specialties are the kinds of evidence that support the case, but no official page publishes a checklist outside Abu Dhabi, so we do not invent one.

Route B: the golden visa for doctors through salary

The specialised professionals route has no nominating body. It asks for:

For a consultant in Dubai on a full package above AED 30,000, this is usually the faster golden visa for doctors: no endorsement to wait for, and a service time of 48 hours at GDRFA once the file is complete. The catch is that the salary remains a condition. The GDRFA card for this route says the permit is cancelled if the salary falls below AED 30,000 or the contract ends. A doctor planning to move to part-time work or open a private clinic as an owner should think about that before choosing it.

Which golden visa for doctors route should you choose?

Documents for the golden visa for doctors (both routes)

• Passport with at least six months’ validity, and a photograph.
• Current residence and Emirates ID, if resident.
• Active medical licence (DHA, DoH or MOHAP) and, for Abu Dhabi, the DoH endorsement.
• Medical degree certificate, attested, and specialist qualifications (board certificates, fellowships).
• For the salary route: salary certificate or employment contract, six months of bank statements, and the MOHRE work permit showing the occupation.
• For the nomination route: the nomination letter and ICP approval, and a CV that shows the positions, sub-specialty and academic roles the nomination relies on.
• Health insurance for you and your family.

For the golden visa for doctors, note that foreign medical degrees have normally been verified by the licensing authority already, through primary source verification. That is not the same as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation the residence file may ask for. Keep both in mind, and do not assume one replaces the other.

Golden visa for healthcare professionals beyond doctors and nurses

For the golden visa for healthcare professionals outside medicine and nursing, the picture is the same. Pharmacists, dentists, physiotherapists, radiographers, laboratory scientists, anaesthesia technicians and other allied health staff sit in the same health specialist category. What changes is how clearly the local authority publishes its criteria.

• Abu Dhabi: the DoH route applies on the same four conditions. For technicians and assistant roles, the five years’ UAE experience condition applies; ADDED and ADRO say so explicitly.
• Dubai and the northern emirates: the MOHAP or local authority nomination for the golden visa for healthcare professionals applies, with no published profession list. Allied health staff at senior grades may also meet the salary route.
• Frontline service: the 2021 to 2022 wave included pharmacists and anaesthesia technicians, according to Khaleej Times; there is no current application route for it.

A golden visa for healthcare professionals in these groups follows the same steps described below. If your licence title and your MOHRE occupation are different, sort that out first. It is the most common reason these files are returned.

Golden visa for healthcare professionals in management roles

Hospital chief executives, medical directors and directors of nursing who are not treated as clinicians for the nomination often fit the salary route instead: ICP places “chairpersons and chief executives at occupational level one” in the specialised professionals category. Can teachers get a golden visa in the UAE? KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education and RAK

Yes, but only through a recommendation. Teachers qualify as “leading specialists in education” when the Ministry of Education or a local authority recommends them: KHDA for Dubai’s private schools, nurseries and universities, ADEK or the Ministry of Education in Abu Dhabi, and the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah. A teacher earning at least AED 30,000 a month, with a bachelor’s degree and a skill level 1 or 2 occupation, can also use the salary route without a nomination.

An earlier version of this page said teachers were not a named federal category. That was wrong, and we have corrected it. ICP’s Golden guide lists “leading specialists in education, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Education or the relevant local authorities”, and GDRFA Dubai’s card has an “Elite Education Fields” group with a Ministry of Education nomination letter and ICP approval. The local authorities have since built golden visa for teachers nomination schemes on top of it.

Dubai: the KHDA Golden visa for outstanding educators

Announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed on World Teachers’ Day in October 2024, the KHDA Golden visa covers Dubai’s private education sector. KHDA’s FAQs list who can be nominated:

• principals and leaders of private schools in Dubai;
• managers of private early childhood centres;
• academic heads of KHDA-licensed higher education institutions;
• teachers in private schools and early childhood centres;
• full-time faculty at KHDA-licensed higher education institutions.

Teachers in Dubai government schools, which the Ministry of Education and the Emirates Schools Establishment run, are not covered by the KHDA Golden visa.

KHDA Golden visa criteria for teachers and faculty

KHDA’s policy, “Golden Visa Policy for exceptional educators in private education institutions in Dubai”, sets criteria in five groups. It says the more you meet, the better the chance; it does not require all of them.

KHDA Golden visa criteria for principals, nursery managers and academic heads

Leaders are assessed on the same themes with sharper tests. Principals must have improved their school’s Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau rating to Good or better and maintained or improved it. All leaders need evidence of improved student outcomes, positive feedback from students, parents and staff, and a formal nomination from the board of governors “citing exceptional leadership and specific reasons for the nomination”. Academic heads of universities need an advanced degree and research contributions.

How the KHDA Golden visa nomination works

1. Talk to your head of institution. KHDA’s FAQs: “The process begins with a nomination from your institution.” You cannot apply to KHDA directly as an individual.
2. The institution reviews internally. Each school, nursery or university must form an internal committee to check applications against the criteria before submitting them.
3. The institution submits through KHDA’s e-services during the annual window. KHDA’s FAQs say institutions can nominate “from mid-October until mid-December every year”; the 2025 window ran from 15 October to 15 December 2025.
4. KHDA reviews and coordinates. A committee’s recommendations go to KHDA, which coordinates with the relevant authorities and proposes the final list.
5. You are notified and told to approach GDRFA Dubai, through its authorised outlets, to complete the Golden residence.

Golden visa for teachers in Abu Dhabi: ADEK and the Ministry of Education

ADDED and ADRO list the “Golden Visa for Elite Specialists in Education” with two requirements: “a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education or Abu Dhabi Department of Education & Knowledge”, and “a valid license to operate in the UAE”. Both pages say submissions for this category “are currently not available via Abu Dhabi Residents Office”, and point applicants to TAMM and ICP’s nomination request instead.

Neither ADEK nor the Ministry of Education publishes criteria or a nomination window for teachers that we could find. In practice the golden visa for teachers recommendation is institution-led, as in Dubai, so start with your school’s leadership. Do not rely on any page that quotes ADEK thresholds without linking to ADEK.

Golden visa for teachers in Ras Al Khaimah: the RAK Department of Knowledge scheme

The Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office announced a Golden visa programme for educators on 14 November 2024, managed by the RAK Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) for private schools. According to the Media Office and Khaleej Times, school leaders and teachers need:

• at least three years’ residence and employment in Ras Al Khaimah;
• a relevant advanced degree (master’s or PhD);
• an official appointment letter from the Ministry of Education or RAK DOK;
• for leaders, evidence of improved school performance (Khaleej Times gives the example of a rating rising from Acceptable to Good) and an endorsement from the board of governors;
• for teachers, evidence against at least three of these: student learning outcomes, positive feedback, regional or national awards, impact on students of determination, innovative teaching and technology, and professional development (Khaleej Times).

Khaleej Times reported that RAK DOK reviews eligibility within a maximum of two weeks and charges no application fee for that review; successful applicants then complete the residence with ICP.

Golden visa for teachers in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and government schools

We found no published golden visa for teachers scheme for these emirates, or for Ministry of Education and Emirates Schools Establishment teachers, when we searched again on 10 October 2026. The federal category still applies: a Ministry of Education recommendation, then ICP approval. ICP’s public nomination request lets an educator record the claim, but without a recommendation it will not succeed. If your employer has not taken part in a scheme, the salary route or a Green residence is usually more realistic.

Golden visa for teachers at university level: professors and researchers

Faculty at Dubai’s KHDA-licensed universities can be nominated through the KHDA Golden visa above. Professors and researchers anywhere in the UAE can also use the scientists and researchers route, which has numeric criteria (a master’s or PhD in a listed field, an FWCI of 1.0 or more and an h-index of 10 or more, or alternatives) and a nomination from the UAE Scientists Council. Golden visa for teachers who do not fit a scheme

Most teachers are not nominated in a given year: roughly half of KHDA’s first-round applicants were not. If that is you, the Golden visa for teachers is not the only long-term option:

• Green residence as a skilled employee: AED 15,000 a month, MOHRE skill level 1 to 3 and a bachelor’s degree; check this first.
• Golden visa for teachers through salary: AED 30,000 a month, which some principals and senior academics earn.
• Property: a property worth at least AED 2 million, including mortgaged property subject to the conditions in our property requirement guide.
• A spouse’s Golden residence: if your spouse qualifies, you can be sponsored as a family member; see our family sponsorship guide.

How do nurses, doctors and teachers apply for the golden visa, emirate by emirate?

The nomination differs by profession. The residence stage differs by emirate. Once you hold a nomination, endorsement or salary evidence, the rest follows one of three paths.

The first step by profession: a Dubai Health nurse with more than 15 years’ service asks the nursing directorate, because there is no public form. A nurse or doctor licensed by the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi requests the DoH endorsement on TAMM. Any other nurse or doctor needs a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the local health authority, then ICP approval. A teacher asks the school to nominate them. Anyone on AED 30,000 a month with a degree and a skill level 1 or 2 occupation can go straight to the GDRFA or ICP residence application on the salary route.

Dubai: GDRFA Dubai for the golden visa for nurses, doctors and teachers

1. Secure the basis. A Dubai Health confirmation (nurses with 15+ years), a KHDA Golden visa approval (educators), a MOHAP or health authority nomination with ICP approval (health specialists), or salary evidence (salary route).
2. Check your file is clean. No unpaid fines, a passport with at least six months left, and valid health insurance.
3. Apply for the Golden residence on the GDRFA Dubai website or app, or at an Amer centre. For health and education specialists the card is “Issuing Golden Residence Permit (Specialized Scientists)”, which covers the elite health and education groups; the salary route uses the skilled workers group of the same card.
4. Medical fitness and Emirates ID biometrics, where your category and age require them.
5. Residence issued. GDRFA’s published service time is 48 hours from a complete application. The Golden residence replaces your employment residence; your employer’s sponsorship ends, but your work permit continues.
6. Family residences follow on your file.

Abu Dhabi: DoH or ADEK, then ADRO or ICP

1. Request the endorsement. Healthcare professionals request the Department of Health endorsement on TAMM; educators need a recommendation letter from ADEK or the Ministry of Education.
2. Submit the Golden application. Health specialists through ADRO on TAMM, or through ICP; ADDED says education specialist submissions are not currently accepted through ADRO, so educators use ICP’s nomination request with the recommendation letter.
3. Provide the documents: passport with six months’ validity, visa or residence copy, health insurance, licence, and the endorsement.
4. Medical, Emirates ID and issue by ICP. ICP’s residence card gives 2 days once complete.

The Department of Health’s Golden visa page gives an all-in cost of AED 2,800 to 3,800 for applicants inside the UAE and AED 3,800 to 4,800 for those outside, without breaking it down. ADRO says issuance is at its sole discretion.

Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah: ICP

1. Obtain the recommendation: MOHAP for healthcare, the Ministry of Education or, in Ras Al Khaimah, RAK DOK for educators.
2. File ICP’s “Nomination Request for Golden Residence” on ICP smart services under Visa, then Golden Residence, selecting the health or education specialist category and uploading the recommendation. Salary route applicants go straight to the Golden residence application.
3. ICP approval, then the residence application: medical, Emirates ID, health insurance and issue. ICP gives 2 days for residence issue.

If you are outside the UAE

ICP’s Golden guide gives eligible applicants outside the UAE “a six-month, multiple-entry entry visa, renewable for an additional six months”. In practice, healthcare and education nominations go to people already licensed and working here, so recruits from abroad normally arrive on an employment visa first. Golden visa for nurses and educators: fees and published times

The nomination for a golden visa for teachers or nurses usually has no fee: KHDA does not list a nomination fee, Khaleej Times reported that RAK DOK charges none, and Dubai Health’s scheme had no application. The money is at the residence stage. These are the published lines; our Golden visa cost guide works through full totals with medical, Emirates ID, insurance and dependants.

The GDRFA card also mentions an extra AED 100 for each year beyond two, without saying whether the AED 1,100 already includes it. We have not found a GDRFA page that settles this, so the payment screen governs. Amer’s service charge is added at the counter.

Family, job changes and keeping the golden visa for healthcare professionals and teachers

Your family

ICP’s guide lets Golden holders sponsor “spouses and children, regardless of their age, as well as parents”. KHDA’s FAQs confirm that educators can sponsor a spouse and children after the Golden visa is issued. Each family member’s residence is a separate application on your file, with its own fees. Changing jobs

The Golden residence is self-sponsored, so a new hospital or school does not end it; you still need a new MOHRE work permit. GDRFA’s card makes self-sufficiency a condition of keeping the permit and says it is renewable “if the same conditions are met”, so someone who leaves the profession should not assume renewal on the same basis. On the salary route, GDRFA says the permit is cancelled if the salary falls below AED 30,000 or the contract ends.

Time outside the UAE

The u.ae portal lists “the ability to stay outside the UAE for more than the usual period of six months” as a Golden benefit, so Golden holders do not need the re-entry permit that ordinary residents need after six months away. If the residence is cancelled or expires, ICP allows a 180-day grace period for Golden holders; see our guide to the UAE residence visa grace period.

Why a golden visa for nurses, doctors or teachers stalls or is refused

Most problems we see are avoidable before filing. If yours has already been refused, our guide to what happens when a Golden visa is rejected covers the options.

• Wrong route. A private-sector nurse waiting for the Dubai Health scheme, or a teacher filing ICP’s nomination request with no recommendation behind it.
• No endorsement yet. Filing the Golden application before the DoH, MOHAP, KHDA or ADEK letter exists.
• Degree below the bar. A diploma where a bachelor’s is required, or no advanced degree for KHDA’s higher education criteria and RAK’s scheme.
• Unattested or unrecognised degree. The most common single delay on every route.
• Licence problems. An expired, inactive or transferred licence, or a licence title that does not match the MOHRE occupation.
• Salary evidence gaps. Fewer than six months at the qualifying salary, or allowances paid outside the payroll.
• Missed windows. KHDA Golden visa nominations outside mid-October to mid-December; KHDA has no appeal.
• File problems unrelated to the profession: an unpaid fine, an old absconding report, an expiring passport, or no health insurance for the family.

Illustrative scenarios: nurses, doctors and teachers

These are illustrative scenarios built from common situations, not the records of real clients. The figures are the published ones.

Scenario 1: a Dubai Health nurse with 16 years’ service

A senior staff nurse at a Dubai Health hospital heard about the May 2025 announcement from colleagues and asked whether she needed to file anything.

Position: she fits the published description of this golden visa for nurses exactly: Dubai Health employee, nursing staff, more than 15 years. What to do: there is no public form, so the first step is her nursing directorate or HR, which identifies eligible staff. Meanwhile, get the family’s documents ready: attested marriage certificate, children’s birth certificates, passports with six months left, and insurance for everyone. Afterwards: once her Golden residence is issued through GDRFA, the family residences follow on her file, and her work permit with Dubai Health continues as before.

Scenario 2: a private hospital nurse in Dubai with 18 years across three employers

A registered nurse had worked for three private hospitals in Dubai since 2008, earning AED 17,500 a month with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Assessment: the Dubai Health golden visa for nurses does not cover private-sector service. There is no published MOHAP or DHA nomination form for nurses. The salary route needs AED 30,000. What fits: the Green residence for skilled employees, at AED 15,000 a month, skill level 1 to 3 and a bachelor’s degree, gives her five years of self-sponsored residence now. The first checks are her work permit occupation and skill level, then her degree attestation, which may still be valid from her first DHA licence. She keeps the option of a Golden nomination if her employer ever puts staff forward.

Scenario 3: a DoH-licensed physiotherapist in Abu Dhabi

A physiotherapist with a bachelor’s degree and a valid Department of Health licence had worked in Abu Dhabi for three years.

Assessment: for the golden visa for healthcare professionals in Abu Dhabi, the ADDED and ADRO conditions are a valid DoH licence, a bachelor’s degree and a DoH endorsement; the five years’ UAE experience condition applies only to technicians and assistant roles, which a licensed physiotherapist is not. What fits: request the DoH endorsement on TAMM, then file the ADRO application with her passport, residence copy, insurance and licence. The endorsement and the final decision are the Department’s and ADRO’s; a PRO’s part is making sure the file is complete when it reaches them.

Scenario 4: a consultant anaesthetist in Dubai on AED 48,000

A consultant at a private hospital asked whether to wait for a health specialist nomination or use the salary route.

Assessment: his monthly salary was well above AED 30,000, his occupation was a skill level 1 professional role, his MBBS was attested, and he had eight months of salary transfers. What fits: the golden visa for doctors on the salary route, with no nomination to wait for and a 48-hour GDRFA service time. The trade-off: the permit depends on keeping a qualifying salary and contract, which suits a doctor who intends to stay employed. The residence would be filed through Amer, with his wife and two children added afterwards.

Scenario 5: a Dubai secondary teacher preparing for the KHDA Golden visa window

A head of mathematics at a Dubai private school, rated Very Good, asked in September what to do before the KHDA Golden visa window.

Assessment: the route is the KHDA Golden visa, and her school has to nominate her. What to do: ask the principal now whether the school will take part, then build the evidence the internal committee will look for: exam results, progress data for Emirati students and students of determination, a school award, survey results and a community project. • Recommend the salary route, a Green residence or another Golden route when a nomination is not realistic.

• Promise a nomination, an endorsement or a Golden residence. Those decisions belong to your employer, the health or education authority and ICP or GDRFA.
• Claim we can obtain a DoH, MOHAP, KHDA or ADEK letter through contacts. ICP has said no consultancy is an authorised party to Golden decisions, and it is right.
• File a nomination request with nothing behind it just because you asked us to.
• Present a diploma as a degree, or a lapsed licence as an active one.
