Why an application stalls
- Biometrics not attended. The single most common cause, and nobody chases you.
- Name spelling mismatch between passport and application — frequently after a passport renewal at a different consulate.
- Outstanding fines against your file, including ILOE liabilities and previous Emirates ID penalties.
- Underlying visa issue — the card follows the residence visa, so a stalled visa stalls the card.
- Delivery address out of date, often several homes old.
Once the Emirates ID number is issued, most banking, telecom and government transactions proceed on the number alone. People lose weeks waiting for plastic they did not need in hand — if something is time-sensitive, try the transaction before assuming you must wait.
